AGROgestor Platform presented at the Conference “Digitalization, bigdata and cybersecurity in the sector of irrigated agriculture”
Madrid February 28, 2018. Celebrated the Conference on “Digitalization, bigdata and cybersecurity in the sector of irrigated agriculture”
The general director of Rural Development and Forest Policy, Esperanza Orellana, underlined the Ministry’s commitment to the digitalization of agro-industry and rural areas and pointed out that the agri-food sector is considered an important recipient of digital technologies in the coming years.
In this framework, Joaquín Puig, responsible for the advisory area to the irrigator of INTIA, presented the AGROgestor platform.
In the field of the incorporation of new technologies, the general director put in value the appearance of sensors like those of humidity in soil that start up an irrigation machine; remote sensing for different uses, with satellites of different image or drones precisions that allow to monitor doses of irrigation, fertilization, pests and weeds.
It has also raised the advantages offered by the Geographic Information System to be able to visualize all the information in maps, or new intelligent machines, capable of producing changes in the management of crops. And together with all these systems, cybersecurity to protect information processes as well as systems and infrastructures.
All this information allows farmers to obtain better yields by optimizing crop management and reducing the use of inputs, which also contributes to the adaptation and mitigation of the effects of climate change on agriculture.
